Believe it or not, Social Security disability system getting better
Now, this does not apply to every aspect of the Social Security disability system.
Since COVID, most federal government offices have been closed to the general public. Many federal employees now telecommute, and Social Security disability employees are no different. If you've been needing to "swing by" a Social Security office, you're still going to have to wait. They are simply not open at this present time.
This alone has made navigating through the Social Security disability system even more of a nightmare for many.
But, there is some silver lining in that grey Social Security disability cloud that seems to follow many around, raining on their head, for what seems. an eternity by now.
That little silver lining is that hearing office wait times have actually become less of a wait. In other words, if you've been waiting for SSA to schedule a time for you to go before a judge and explain your disability, the wait times are better then they ever have been.
I've seen it bad, worse than this. There have been times when wait periods have been for 12 to 18 months. At times, my client has died before ever getting to see a judge to decide his or her case.
But now, with COVID, all Social Security disability judges are working from home. Since there are much fewer delays at the time of every hearing, this has actually allowed all judges to hear more cases, and i.e. this has diminished wait times. The hearings are much quicker and easier by telephone.
Not that it's still a wait, it's just now waiting in a line that is inside the restaurant rather than waiting in a line that wraps all the way around a city block. At least you can see and smell the food before ordering.
If you've been denied Social Security disability benefits, I can probably help you with your case. Call my office at: (888) 780-9125. And, if I can't, I'll at least tell you why.
That's it for now. It's 2:12 am and I couldn't sleep. So, I thought I would write out a little blog. If you're reading this anytime before 6:00 am, get to bed.
